Bought for my 3 year old (who wears 4t). it is a rectangle whose width wise will fit going up and down the stairs. So it is on the smallish size. But my daughter & son (6 yrs) can play in it. It's hard for an adult to get in to play and there will be no room if an adult is in it. But my kids love it.
