| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Very useful reference book As with two other Nolo books I own, "Working for Yourself is a pretty good reference book if you're a home business owner or freelancer needing information about running your business. As the book says, this guide is intended "for those self-employed people who provide personal services, such as writers, consultants, artists, photographers, lawyers, and doctors."
The topics in this book are pretty comprehensive, ranging from taxing issues, licensing and permits, pricing and services, getting paid, reducing your income taxes, hiring employees, and safeguarding yourself as a business owner. In addition, there is information about drafting client agreements and understanding copyrights and patents. While some of these topics are covered by entire books, this is a great reference guide to help you get started.
This is not a book you will read cover to cover, but is very well-written and laid out guide. The only drawback to the book is that there appears to be no link to the sample documents used in the book. I checked the Nolo website and was unable to find downloadable documents used in the book. However, Nolo does sell legal forms on their website. + See Full Customer Review | |
